SSAB COMMITTEES

There are three committees of the Social Services Advisory Board:

  1. The Executive Committee
  2. The Budget and Levy Review Committee
  3. The Health and Human Services Committee

The Executive Committee of the Social Services Advisory Board consists of the Chair of the Board and the Committee Chairs of the other two committees. This committee meets at least twice per year. The Levy Agency members may not serve on the Executive Committee. The duties of the Executive Committee are:

  • Annual Review of the Code of Regulations
  • Recommend new members to the Board
  • Evaluate the performance and direction of the Board

The Budget and Levy Review Committee oversees the levy-funded agencies and annually evaluates their budgets, programs and/or levy requests. There are three levy-funded agencies; the Children Services Board (CSB), the Alcohol, Drug Addiction, and Mental Health Services Board (ADM), and the Mental Retardation and Developmental Disabilities Board (MR/DD).

The Health and Human Services Committee evaluates the human services needs of the community, the design and structure of the social service system, and oversees welfare reform efforts. Currently, members of the Health and Human Services Committee are part of a larger group that is meeting monthly to provide input and their unique perspectives as well as oversight to the County’s Summit 2010 a Quality of Life Project. The Health and Human Services Committee has also been engaged in evaluating the provision of Adult Protective Services (pdf file) and a member of the committee serves on the Adult Protective Task Force.
